Why get a coach? There are hundreds of training plans available for free or for much less than the cost of a coach, but the value of working with a coach comes from working with someone who understands your lifestyle, strengths, weaknesses, available time, history of injury, equipment available and much more. From the initial consultation and regular communication, a coach will create a training plan suited specifically to you, and make necessary adjustments during your training weeks.
It’s simple logic. If:
Then you will get faster/stronger.
Which is exactly what we are all trying to do.
A coaching relationship is not only about making the athlete go faster; it’s how the coach can fit training into the athlete’s life. After all, for most endurance athletes, it’s a lifestyle, so successful coaching incorporates that lifestyle and not just the performance.
At DD Triathlon Coaching, the relationship we have with our athletes is built on trust, honesty and open communication. Things don’t always go to plan, both in life and in training, but we are always there for our athletes to provide support and guide you. Coaching is a partnership, together we learn from times that don’t go to plan, prepare and build upon those experiences in order to improve and celebrate the results.
If you’d like any advice or what to find our more about our coaching, feel free to reach drop us a message or book in for a chat.
A question we've heard a lot recently is do age-group athletes benefit for a coach? I believe a coach can add a huge amount of value but it has to be the right coach-athlete relationship.
